City phone system down

BREAKING: Got an email from a reader about 11 AM, saying they couldn't get through. Just tried several phone numbers without success. Evidently the city's phone system is down. Note that 911 is not connected to -- or affected by -- the city's PBX system.

7:55 - Tried calling a few City Hall Numbers and when I try from a cell phone I get a "Service Conflict" message on my screen. When I call from a land line, it rings a few times, answers, then you hear a fast busy.

While VOIP has some advantages, you have to have a back up plan in place for outages. With the crazy weather that can pop up anytime, how can the city communicate with the vatious service agencites it would have to deal with. If there was a problem, even within City Hall, how could they call the Police or Fire Department.

Way to go Queen City!

5:44 PM -- Nothing I could find on the website, unless it's buried 17 layers down. Why wouldn't it be on the front page?

You expect to find something on the website? Remember what I said on June 29th concerning your comparing the City's website to Green Brook's - "Coming Soon??? My guess is that it's like one of those "Going Out of Business Sa;e" signes that you will see for a lont time to come.

So maybe someone can define what "Coming Soon" means.

Maybe that's the word they got when they called someone to repair their phone system - "We'll be Coming Soon!"
