Ledger: Plainfield goes for McCain by more than 25%

The Union County section of the Ledger's election map.

Plainfielders might be surprised to learn from today's Ledger that the city's voters had backed McCain by more than 25%.

I certainly was.

See the online story here, and the Ledger's online map here (PDF).

Kind of reinforces your confidence about the numbers, eh?

The explanatory legend shows McCain wins by more than 25%.

For two days in a row, the Ledger has reported McCain as the big winner in Plainfield. However, the Courier shows just the opposite in its voting report on Wednesday, and Rashid Burney is reporting that the Ledger must have transposed the numbers asnd has the voting report backwards. Is there a way to double check this?

The accompanying table in the print edition also has the numbers backwards. Fact checking anyone?

This "little" error makes me worried. Was it a print error on the part of the Star Ledger? or did our electronic voting machines foul up and cast our Obama votes for John McCain??? Where is the paper trail and how can this be checked out? Carrie Faraone
