Council contemplates 10-year parking lease for Blink Fitness Center

Blink is an exciting chain of fitness centers
that bills itself as "putting mood above muscle".

Tonight's Plainfield City Council agenda contains a resolution (Item N) to grant a 1-year lease for a portion (90 spaces) of Lot #1 behind the stores between Watchung Avenue and the Supremo supermarket.

The spaces would be for parking for patrons of a new Blink Fitness Center to be located on the second floor of the former McCrory's building across from the YWCA.

Blink (see website here) is a rapidly growing chain of affordable fitness centers, whose tag line is "Every Body Happy." Their focus is to make people feel good about the exercise experience, regardless of the shape they are in when they join.

Starting in the New York City area, they have branched out to Long Island, upstate, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California -- and now, Plainfield!

There are fifteen locations in New Jersey, with some of the closest to us being in Linden, Union, and East Orange. See the complete list here.

Each location offers free wi-fi throughout, stash-and-dash lockers, in-gym retail (official Blink gear and last-minute items like locks, earbuds, towels and water bottles.

The former McCrory's building has recently been renovated, with the first floor occupied by a sparkling new Dollar Tree store.

Keep an eye on this project as downtown Plainfield continues its transformation!

This post has been changed to reflect the correct name of the new dollar store
on East Front Street.
