Grace Church's former organist Andrew Moore at Crescent Church Sunday afternoon

Andrew Moore, former organist and choirmaster of
Grace Episcopal Church is a featured performer
at today's Crescent Concerts
Festival of Organists.

Plainfield's Puritans will be under siege by the Anglicans Sunday as Crescent Concerts offers its annual Festival of Organists at Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church at 3:00 PM.

By chance -- or design? -- all four of this year's participants are organists at area Episcopal churches --

  • Andrew Moore, formerly at Grace Church, Plainfield, and now at Christ Church, Short Hills;
  • Wayne Dietterick, at All Saints Church, Scotch Plains;
  • Rick Morgan, at St. John on the Mountain, Bernardsville; and
  • Kevin Graf, organ scholar at Calvary Church, Summit
Crescent Concerts music director F. Allen Artz III has playfully entitled this year's concert "The Thrill of the Chase" -- perhaps a pun on φεύγω, the Greek word for "flight" or "chase" -- and as "fugue" is a favorite form of composition for organ. The guest organists will perform on Crescent Avenue Presbyterian's magnificent 97-rank W.F. Adams organ.

The concert gets under way at 3:00 PM sharp. Tickets are available at the door: $20/person, $15/seniors, $5/students with ID. For more information on Crescent Concerts, visit their website at crescentconcerts.org/.

Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church is at Watchung Avenue at East 7th Street in Plainfield and is an accessible facility. Parking available in the church lot on First Place, on the street, or in Swain Galleries lot across from the church.
