CORRECTION: 3rd Annual Plainfield Habitat Run/Walk SUNDAY

[This is a corrected post, with apologies: the run is SUNDAY, April 10.]

Greater Plainfield Habitat for Humanity's third annual 5K run/walk steps off at 2:00 PM this afternoon, rain or shine.

Registration and check-in begins at 1:00 PM at the Habitat offices, 2 Randolph Road (corner of Park Avenue).

The Greater Plainfield chapter has a goal of $10,000 for this event and is well on its way with nearly 100 already registered (come on, you last minute folks!).

The 5K race course through Cedar Brook Park was designed by the NJIT Cross County and Track & Field Teams and is a USA TF certified course. With great views of Habitat homes, the paved and tree-lined course circle the park, with monitoring by the Plainfield Police Division where the course intersects with traffic.

The $10,000 goal will help fund Plainfield Habitat's most ambitious project to date, a group of three duplexes which will bring the total of homes built by the chapter since its founding in 1989 to nearly 40.

Awards will be made for first and second places in all seven divisions, both men's and women's, plus top fundraising team and individual. Free refreshments will be available at the start and end of the race.

Registration today: $30 individual/$60 family.

A good day for a 5K! We didn't get rained on, and the NJIT volunteers and Plainfield police were all awesome, all for a good cause!
