Green group snubs Green

Plainfield Assemblyman Jerry Green.

Sad news for Jerry Green, chairperson of the Plainfield Democratic City Committee and my pick for Assembly Speaker.

In a stunning snub the Sierra Club, New Jersey's pre-eminent 'green' group, chose not to endorse Green for re-election (see here). They did, however, endorse running mate Linda Stender of Fanwood.

Other area legislators endorsed include: Jon Bramnick (Plainfield hometown kid!) and Nancy Munoz, and South Plainfield's Patrick Diegnan.

Could it be because Green has not championed LEED certification for the projects of developers he has brought to the table in Plainfield?

I am wondering what Jerry Green did to p.o. the Sierra Club--perhaps his refusal to instigate a state investigation into Connolly's pouring of raw sewage into the storm drains a couple of months ago? He said he was talking to the DEP, but he never followed up. Maybe they're angry that he didn't launch a serious look.
