Police Director: Absurd level reached

With Orange mayor Mims Hackett's resignation from office in the face of his bribery conviction, City Council President Lisa Perkins became acting mayor until the new mayor takes office on July 1.

With a mayorally-appointed civilian police director (as in Plainfield's new arrangement), Perkins exercised her authority as mayor to appoint HERSELF as police director, sending Aric Webster, Hackett's appointee, packing with NO notice.
